What is the difference between dirty stayover and dirty?
Both Dirty Stayover and Dirty indicate rooms that require cleaning — but they differ based on whether the room is occupied or vacant.
Dirty Stayover:
- Refers to a room that is currently occupied by a guest, but still needs cleaning or servicing.
- This usually happens when a guest is staying for multiple nights and requests or is scheduled for daily housekeeping service.
- The guest’s belongings remain in the room while cleaning is done.
Example:
A guest is staying for 3 nights. After the first night, the room is cleaned while the guest continues the stay — that day, the room status is Dirty Stayover until cleaned.
Dirty (or Dirty Checkout):
- Refers to a room that has been vacated by the guest and now needs full cleaning and resetting before the next check-in.
- The room is unoccupied and ready for deep cleaning, linen change, and inspection.
Example:
A guest checks out at 11 AM, and the room now needs cleaning before the next arrival — that room shows as Dirty (Checkout) or simply Dirty.
